This data point captures the total volume of petrol (gasoline) consumed by vehicles owned or directly controlled by your organization during the reporting period. It should be reported in liters and include all types of operational vehicles, from passenger cars to light commercial vans, as long as they are part of the company fleet.

What to include:

  • Petrol consumed by:

    • Passenger cars

    • Light commercial vehicles

    • Any other road-registered vehicles under direct company control

  • Fuel consumed during the reporting period, based on actual usage

  • Data from all relevant sources: fuel cards, receipts, fleet management reports

What not to include:

  • Petrol used in stationary engines or non-road equipment (covered in other data points)

  • Fuel purchased but not consumed within the reporting year

  • Employee-owned vehicles used for business purposes (reported under Scope 3 – Business Travel)

  • Leased vehicles where the lessor manages fuel and reporting

Estimation Methodology:

  • If full-year data is incomplete:

    • Compile actual consumption for all available months

    • Calculate the monthly average

    • Multiply by the number of missing months

    • Add the estimate to the actual total
