Description:
This category captures the GHG emissions associated with how employees commute to and from their workplace on a daily basis. Companies must enter into Green0Meter (G0M):
Number of employees commuting daily (count).
Average commuting distance (one-way, in km).
Percentages of employees commuting by different transport modes.
G0M applies emission factors to the commuting modes and distances, automatically converting the input into tCO₂e.
The most common way to gather this data is through yearly employee commuting surveys, supported by HR or administrative records.
Employee commuting emissions include all individuals who actively travel between their homes and our workplaces during the reporting year. This covers full-time, part-time, and temporary employees, as well as interns or trainees who regularly commute. Individuals who are not actively working—such as those on parental leave, long-term sick leave, or sabbatical—are excluded for the period in which they do not commute. Freelancers or contractors are included only if they work regularly on our premises and their commuting emissions are attributable to our operations. Please clearly describe which groups of workers you included in the calculation to ensure transparency and auditability.
