Description:

This data point captures GHG emissions from the transport and distribution of purchased goods before they reach your facilities. It covers all modes of inbound transportation provided by third parties (air, sea, rail, road, delivery vans) and third-party distribution centers. Emissions are reported in tCO₂e, calculated based on distance, load, and transport mode.

If detailed logistics data (km, tonnes) aren't available, use invoices or financial records.

What to include:

  • All third-party inbound transport of purchased goods (by air, sea, rail, road, or van).

  • Third-party distribution or warehousing activities related to inbound logistics.

  • Both domestic and international transport legs.

What not to include:

  • Transport by your own company’s fleet (Scope 1).

  • Purchased electricity or fuel for transport (Scope 1/2).

  • Transport of sold products to customers (Scope 3.9 – Downstream transportation).

  • Employee travel or commuting.
