This data point covers direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from stationary combustion sources (e.g., boilers, furnaces, heating units, onsite generators) when the calculation of emissions is done externally — by a consultant, supplier, or third-party tool.
This ensures consistency with standardised emission factors and external validation of results. While fuel consumption (litres, kWh, kg) is typically logged in other datapoints, this datapoint captures situations where the final emissions (in tCO₂e) are already calculated and provided to you.
What to include:
All externally calculated emissions from stationary combustion sources.
Reports provided by energy suppliers, consultants, or third-party platforms.
Both external and intercompany facilities (mark intercompany in G0M if relevant).
What not to include:
Fuel consumption data for internal calculation (these belong in other Scope 1 datapoints such as natural gas, coal, oil).
Emissions from mobile combustion (vehicles, machinery).
Emissions from industrial processes (reported under separate Scope 1 datapoints).
Estimation Methodology:
Since this data point is based on external calculations, no internal estimation should be performed for missing months.
If the external provider’s data does not cover the full year, request them to provide a pro-rated or annualized figure using their methodology.
Preferred: Use the exact figure provided by the external consultant or supplier.
If only fuel use is reported, log that under the respective fuel datapoint instead.
If external data is incomplete, use your own calculation methodology (Scope 1 datapoints), not this datapoint.
