Do you use air conditioning?

This data point records whether any air conditioning systems or other cooling equipment containing refrigerants were used during the reporting period, and whether these systems required refilling or topping up due to leakage, maintenance, or equipment changes. Refrigerant gases have high global warming potential (GWP) and their use must be carefully monitored for ESRS climate reporting.

What to include:

  • All stationary air conditioning or refrigeration units containing refrigerants in buildings, vehicles, or test facilities.

  • Any top-ups, recharges, or refills of refrigerants during the reporting period.

  • All refrigerant types listed in your inventory (see table below).

What not to include:

  • Portable units without refrigerants.

  • Cooling systems using water or brine without refrigerants.

  • Refrigerants in equipment outside your operational control.

Estimation Methodology:

  • If you lack exact refill data for all months:

    • Use actual refill amounts from available maintenance/service records.

    • Calculate the average monthly refill rate.

    • Multiply by missing months to estimate.

    • Replace estimates with actuals once available.
